Join Michigan Education Corps for the 2023-2024 school year as an MEC Math Corps Interventionist and help kids develop basic math and problem solving skills using evidence-based, scripted interventions. As an interventionist, you’ll help struggling students in 4-8 improve their skills and get on track with math. No experience? No problem. With great training and onsite coaching, we’ll prepare you to work with pairs of students to build fundamental math skills and confidence. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Requires 5 days per week. Position starts 8/14/2023 or 8/28/2023 (depending on the school placement) and ends 6/1/2024 (part time positions also available).
Compensation/Benefits: living stipend of $796.19 – 1,114.67* biweekly (totaling $1,592.38 – $2,229.34 per month), education award of up to $4,826.50 that can be used to repay federal student loans or future education expenses; federal student loan forbearance. Health insurance and childcare assistance is available for full-time interventionists. Interventionists may elect to complete their Michigan Youth Development Associate (Mi-YDA) credential.
*Living stipend is based on total number of hours in service term
Minimum qualifications:
● Must be 18 years of age or older by your start date.
● Must have at least a high school diploma or recognized equivalent by your start date.
● Must be either a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
● Must pass mandatory pre-service background checks.
● Must not have served 4 or more prior terms of service with AmeriCorps State or National.
