POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant II – Droujinine Lab

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant II. The Droujinine Lab develops novel methods to identify and characterize novel secreted factors that coordinate organ and organism functions in homeostasis and disease in mammalian systems. To that end, we established an in vivo global proteomic platform to investigate secreted protein trafficking between organs in mice. To learn more please visit www.scripps.edu/droujinine. Ideal candidate will lead their own project, and perform mammalian cell culture, in vivo mouse experiments, quantitative TMT mass spectrometry proteomics, metabolomics, western blot, pulldowns, DNA cloning, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, high throughput screens, and bioinformatic data analysis. Significant emphasis is placed on the professional development of the Research Assistant. More information on the project will be discussed during the interview process.

RESPOSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Work under minimal supervision. Independently conducts a wide variety of standard laboratory techniques/procedures while using judgement when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques. Receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
  • Provide interpretation and analyses of results. Troubleshoot and modify procedures.
  • May assist in designing experiments to complete a segment of overall research plan. May provide routine equipment maintenance. May provide guidance/training to department.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S./B.A. degree in a related field
  • Requires 3-5 years’ experience. Candidates possessing a master’s degree, 2+ years’ experience in biology, biological engineering, or related discipling.
  • Experience in biologic techniques outlined in the position summary highly preferred but not required.
  • High motivation and independence in reading scientific literature and performing experiments.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $64,480 to $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
